I think sometimes we over complicate prayer. Almost as if it’s an hour long monologue from our mouths to God’s ears. Perhaps subconsciously we believe it’s so complex that we have to carve out a huge portion of the day just to do it. Only, we don’t have the time. And so it almost becomes cumbersome, rather than joyous, and more of an option, than a priority.
But prayer doesn’t require much. At minimum it requires the ability to talk and have a conversation in which you speak (to God) and then listen (to hear him). There is something miraculous that happens when you make time for God. When you communicate and talk to God, he answers: “Call on me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” – Jerimiah 33:3
Your prayer life is the most important part of the day. Communicating with the creator of the galaxy trumps everything. It sets the tone for the day, serves as a pillar throughout, and creates peace in the night. One person even described it as, giving God permission to intervene in your affairs. Consider this a gentle nudge, and a loving reminder, to make prayer a priority.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”- Phillipeans 4:6-7
