“But if we say we love God and don’t love each other, we are liars. For if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?” – 1 John 4:20.

Today, gospel singer songwriter and producer Kirk Franklin, took to Instagram to express his displeasure with Christian Network TBN and the Dove Awards Show, for editing parts of his acceptance speech that called attention to injustices, regarding the shooting of innocent African American males, by the hands of trigger happy Caucasian cops. The video ignited others who agreed with Franklin, supporting his point of view, while calling out the christian networks/organization for being racist.

It’s a topic that has been speculated amongst the church for years, however Franklin is one of the first to bring mass attention to the issue at hand. Are predominantly white churches racist? Where is the stand for your fellow brothers and sisters as they are innocently dying in numbers? Where is the outcry for justice, the same way cries for help are poured out for others who are affected by natural disasters and other inhumane acts?

“There is one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism one God and Father of all.” “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 4:4-6; Galatians 3:28)

If only we could be this united, according to the very word of God we claim to live by. As the Late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “There comes a time when silence is betrayal.”  See Kirk Franklin’s Instagram video below.
